There is no free tier and no paid tier, because there is no payment. One version of the app, with everything in it:

That is the whole list. There is nothing behind it: no locked features, no upgrade screen, no in-app purchase, and no trial that ends.
Things that will never happen
- Speaking will never be switched off. Not ever. An app that takes away a person's voice because a payment lapsed is an unacceptable object, and several apps in this category have been publicly and rightly savaged for it. This app has no payments to lapse.
- There will never be a subscription. Not a hidden one on a website, not a tier, not a renewal.
- Your voice will never be metered. No character counts, no minute counts, no token bundles.
- Voices will never be paywalled. The voice a person speaks in is part of their identity, not an upsell.
- Your data will never be held hostage. Export always works, and always will.
- There will never be advertising, tracking or data sale. There is nothing to sell, because nothing is collected. See the privacy policy.
- The voice, the layout and the app icon will never change in an update. People build habits around all three, and changing them has ruined several established apps for their long-term users.
If your iPhone cannot run the sentence feature
The three generated sentences need Apple Intelligence, which runs on iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 and later.
On any older supported iPhone, the app is the same free app.
Everything else works normally: word tiles, saved phrases, typing, all voices including Personal Voice, speech on calls, backup, export, the clinician report, and the rule-based expander that offers two options plus the literal row.
What others charge, and what this app charges
For context, since the question is fair. Prices in this category, checked on the United States App Store on 2 August 2026, run from free to about $300. The best-regarded one-time adult apps sit near $25, and buyers in this community describe that level as a sensible investment. Larger established products sit near $120. AI sentence features elsewhere are typically sold at around $5 to $10 per month.
Aloud charges nothing. Money is a real constraint in this population — reviews and forum posts about AAC pricing are full of people choosing between an app and an electricity bill — and a price is one more reason a person who needs a voice does not get one. So there is no price.
For speech-language pathologists
The app is free for everyone, clinicians included, so there are no license codes to request and nothing to apply for. You get the same full app as your clients — never a crippled build, because a feature match cannot be done on a crippled build.
Zero commissions, referral fees or affiliate payments, ever. Published as a policy, not merely intended: Medicare's coverage rules require that the evaluating clinician has no financial relationship with the supplier, and an affiliate scheme would disqualify the app from funded evaluations. Hospitals, clinics and wards
Intensive care, ear nose and throat wards, post-operative recovery and rehabilitation units often need many copies at once, for people who will use it for a few weeks and then get their own voice back. Because the app is free, there is nothing to buy in volume: install it on as many devices as needed, including managed devices through Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. If anything blocks a rollout, get in touch.
What happens if we disappear
If the project ends, the app keeps working on the devices it is installed on, because it needs no server and never did. Backup and export exist so that a person's vocabulary, phrases and history can always be taken out as a single file. There is no account to be locked out of and no cloud to be switched off. That is a direct consequence of the app having no network at all, and it is one of the better arguments for building it that way.
If this app is not the right one
It costs nothing to try, but it will not suit everyone, and the alternatives are real.
